How we work this out
This check covers permanent hiring only. We use an indicative benchmark of 25 hires a year per recruiter for standard-volume roles, dropping to 12 a year for senior, specialist or hard-to-fill roles — the kind that dominate insurance, insurtech and financial services hiring. That benchmark assumes hiring is spread evenly across the year, so we trim effective capacity when hiring is concentrated: seasonal peaks squeeze it by around 20%, and one-off projects by around 30%, because the same work lands in a shorter window. Your team's real capacity will move with process maturity, hiring manager responsiveness and tech stack, so treat this as a sense-check, not a scientific fact. It's usually a fairly honest one.
